Porsche European Open - Fantasy DP World Tour ones to watch

The DP World Tour makes its first visit of the season to Germany this week for the 40th edition of the Porsche European Open.

Kalle Samooja returns to defend his title and is joined in the field by a host of Ryder Cup hopefuls including Victor Perez, Robert MacIntyre and Rasmus Højgaard, along with in-form home favourites Marcel Siem and Yannik Paul.

If you have not done so already, you can sign up to play the official 2023 DP World Tour Fantasy game and submit your six-man team before round one gets under way on Thursday: https://fantasy.dpworldtour.com/

The 2023 season-long winner will win a trip to the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai next year, enjoy a lesson with a DP World Tour professional and a round of golf on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. For more information on this amazing prize and others, read here.

Favourite - Rasmus Højgaard

The Dane arrives in Germany off the back of a tie for the third at the KLM Open - his best result of an injury-interrupted season so far. After the disappointment of having to miss the Hero Cup and first Rolex Series event of the campaign in Abu Dhabi, he bounced back with three consecutive top 20s, including a tie for sixth at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship. With an average driving distance this season of 306.88 yards, Green Eagle Golf Courses could suit the three-time DP World Tour winner and it seems Fantasy players believe that to be the case as he currently features in over 46 per cent of squads as the second most picked player.

Form horse - Deon Germishuys

The South African was the man who finished alongside Højgaard in the Netherlands as he secured his best finish yet in a highly successful debut season. After securing the 20th and final card available from last season's Road to Mallorca, he made a steady start to his DP World Tour career before sealing a maiden top ten at the ISPS HANDA - CHAMPIONSHIP. He then followed up a tie for 15th at the Soudal Open with winning U.S. Open Qualifying and carried all that momentum into the KLM Open. He sits inside the top 50 for diving distance this season but currently finds himself in less than nine per cent of Fantasy squads.

Wild card - Marcus Armitage

There were incredibly emotional scenes when the affable Englishman won his maiden DP World Tour title at this event two years ago and he would be a popular winner should he be able to recreate that success. He missed five of his first ten cuts in the 2023 season with a best finish of tied 28th but a top ten at the DS Automobiles Italian Open showed glimpses of a return to form. He has now made the weekend in his last four events and a return to a happy hunting ground could be just what he needs to truly ignite his campaign. Players could also get a jump on their rivals with Armitage, as he currently features in just over five per cent of squads.

Looking back - KLM Open

Pablo Larrazábal won his second regular DP World Tour event in as many starts at the KLM Open to put a smile on the face of the 15.02% of players who made him our sixth most popular pick, with 2.76% having him as captain. The most picked player was our Favourite Victor Perez but the Frenchman missed his first cut of the season, with our Form horse Adrian Meronk securing a top ten. Wild card Jayden Schaper made the weekend at Bernardus Golf but did not trouble the top end of the leaderboard.
