Jayden Schaper hailed a "proper golf score" as he moved into contention for a second win in successive weeks at the 2026 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
The South African fired a stunning 64 on Moving Day at Heritage La Réserve Golf Links - just as he did in the second round en route to winning last week's Alfred Dunhill Championship in Johannesburg.
That maiden DP World Tour title came in a play-off against compatriot Shaun Norris and he was delighted to back it up with another opportunity after playing himself into Sunday's penultimate group.
Schaper, now two shots off the lead shared by Casey Jarvis and Ryan Gerard, said: "Yeah, that's a proper golf score out there today, especially on Moving Day.
"Nice to see myself going up the leaderboard, especially after the first two days it was just kind of a grind out there, a lot of tough things going on. Today it was just so fun on the golf course, putts were going in, I was hitting good golf shots."
Schaper birdied four of his first five holes and after slowing down around the turn, got back on track in style with an eagle at the par-four 13th after avoiding the bunker in the middle of the green.
Three more birdies, including the final two holes, left Schaper on the tail of the leaders.
"You want to get off to a good start and everything was just going my way, hit some really good shots, made some really nice putts and that's what you want for Moving Day," he said.
"Got up there and hit a really nice tee-shot, got a nice bounce to finish just right of that bunker, so it was a nice relief when I got up there and saw that I didn't have to chip it over the bunker.
"Still about a 30-, 35-footer so to roll that in for eagle at that point in the round was quite nice.
"Made a nice birdie on the next, which is a tough par three. I just kind of kept it going and finished nice and strong.
"You want to be in the mix for tomorrow, it's a course where you can go both ways but the overall day, starting six shots behind and shooting eight under's a nice way to end the day."
