Prostate Cancer UK named Official Charity of the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo

Prostate Cancer UK has been announced as the Official Charity Partner of the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo when the tournament returns to The Belfry from June 28-July 2.

For a third consecutive year, the leading men’s health charity will be the Official Charity Partner of the popular tournament, with six-time Major Champion Sir Nick Faldo now pledging his support, following on from Prostate Cancer UK ambassador Danny Willett, who hosted the event in 2021 and 2022.

Faldo is hopeful of building on the terrific fundraising achieved over the last two years, with in excess of £70,000 raised to help fund life-saving research into diagnosing men sooner and improving the lives of men affected by prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, affecting one in eight. Men over 50, black men and men with a family history of the disease are at increased risk.

“I’m delighted to be supporting Prostate Cancer UK as host of the 2023 Betfred British Masters,” said Faldo. “Prostate cancer affects one in eight men, which means that sadly there will be a man in every clubhouse in the UK that has been impacted by this disease.

“Prostate Cancer UK’s work is making a big difference to highlight the risk this disease poses in the golf community. Golf fans have shown their support for the charity brilliantly over the last two tournaments and I’m sure this year will be no different.

“I hope to see as many of them taking on the Long-Putt Challenge as possible and wearing their ‘Man of Men’ badges with pride!”

Tournament Title Partners Betfred have once again pledged to support the fundraising efforts and will donate £500 for every eagle made during the week, as well as £500 for every player that drives the famous tenth green.

They will also donate £50,000 if a hole-in-one is made on the iconic par three 14th hole, the same hole that tournament host Sir Nick Faldo recorded an ace during the 1993 Ryder Cup.

Betfred Boss Fred Done said: “I am delighted to once again be supporting Prostate Cancer UK during this year’s Betfred British Masters.

“This is such an important cause, so hopefully we will see the players giving the famous 10th a go from the tee along with plenty of eagles and so raising much needed funds for the charity.”

The ever-popular Long-Putt Challenge will return to the Tournament Village, giving spectators the opportunity to win fantastic prizes and donate to help beat prostate cancer. Last year, the Challenge attracted 2,000 golfers of all abilities, raising over £11,000.

There will also be a chance for spectators to emulate the pros by making a £3 donation to attempt to drive the green at the 10th Hole Simulator, also located in the Village, and by purchasing and sporting a ‘Man of Men’ badge around the course. Spectators can also make a donation to Prostate Cancer UK when purchasing their tickets for the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo on the DP World Tour’s website.

Nicola Tallett, Director of Fundraising & Supporter Engagement at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to be returning to the Betfred British Masters as charity partner for a third time.

“The partnership between Prostate Cancer UK, the DP World Tour and Betfred British Masters since 2021 has had a massive impact and it’s helping us reach thousands of golfers to educate them on their prostate cancer risk.

“One man dies from prostate cancer every 45 minutes - the same time it takes to play three holes of golf. That shows we’ve got more work to do, but through the support of our golf partners like the DP World Tour and the Betfred British Masters, we’re making real strides in funding research into the disease.

“We thank them, as well as tournament host Sir Nick Faldo, The Belfry and The PGA, for their outstanding support and look forward to another fantastic tournament.”

Former World Number One and Major Champion Justin Rose headlines a field which includes a host of DP World Tour stars, including Robert MacIntyre, Victor Perez, Min Woo Lee, Adrian Meronk and defending champion Thorbjørn Olesen.

Tickets are still available for all four tournament days as well as the Celebrity Pro-Am which will take place on Wednesday June 28. To purchase tickets for the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, click here.
