Rasmus Højgaard set for Amgen Irish Open title defence

Rasmus Højgaard has confirmed his return to the Amgen Irish Open, as the Danish star looks to defend his title on the tournament’s return to The K Club from September 4-7, 2025.

The 24-year-old clinched his fifth DP World Tour title in spectacular fashion at Royal County Down in 2024, producing a memorable final-round 65 to edge out home favourite Rory McIlroy by a single shot and he will return to the island of Ireland’s national open later this year, with tickets on sale now.

The Dane’s victory in County Down set him on course for dual membership with the PGA TOUR, which he secured with a second place at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship and he has since made a solid start to life Stateside, missing only three cuts in 11 starts and playing the weekend in both of the first two Majors of the year.

He will return to the Amgen Irish Open in September as the Back 9 takes shape on the DP World Tour, a series of nine historic tournaments and Højgaard is excited to defend his title in County Kildare.

“Winning the Amgen Irish Open last year was one of the most special moments of my career,” said Højgaard. “To do it in such dramatic fashion, against such a strong field, is something I’ll never forget.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to The K Club this September. It’s a world-class venue with a rich history, and the Irish fans always create an incredible atmosphere. Defending my title there will be a real honour.

“The Irish Open is always one of the highlights of the season. It’s a special tournament to me and I’m excited to be part of it again and hopefully give myself a chance to lift the trophy one more time.”

The Amgen Irish Open, a key fixture in the Back 9 on the DP World Tour schedule, returns to The K Club’s Palmer North Course after taking place at Royal County Down in 2024. The iconic venue previously hosted the tournament in 2016 when McIlroy secured a famous home victory, and when Vincent Norrman triumphed in the 2023 edition. It was also the stage for Europe’s triumph in the 2006 Ryder Cup.

Højgaard joins an already star-studded field that includes Masters Champion McIlroy, fellow Major winners Pádraig Harrington and Shane Lowry and Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald. Séamus Power, a two-time PGA TOUR winner, is also in the field as he and fellow Amgen ambassador Harrington once again tee it up in the island of Ireland’s national open.

Tickets for the 2025 Amgen Irish Open are now on sale, with General Admission and Premium Experience options available. Fans are encouraged to secure their place early for what promises to be another thrilling edition of one of Ireland’s premier sporting events.
