Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen continued his breakout season on the DP World Tour as he secured his place in the field for the U.S. Open.

The Dane made his Major Championship debut at the US PGA Championship last week, before making the journey from Charlotte, North Carolina to Dallas, Texas to tee it up in Final Qualifying.

And in keeping with the impression he has already made on both sides of the Atlantic since graduating from the HotelPlanner Tour last season, he duly topped the field at Bent Tree Country Club with rounds of 66 and 65 at the par-71 layout.

PGA TOUR players Adam Schenk and James Hahn, along with Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz, were among the seven players to also seal their spots at Oakmont Country Club for the 125th edition of the U.S. Open

After missing the cut by one shot at Quail Hollow Club, Neergaard-Petersen said the experience added “some more fuel to the fire” going forward.

The World Number 85 joins countryman Rasmus Højgaard – alongside whom he played at the Team Cup for Continental Europe – in January as the second Dane in the field for the third men’s Major of the season.

Since finishing as the Road to Mallorca Number One, Neergaard-Petersen has amassed five top tens so far in his first full season on the DP World Tour – including a runner-up finish at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Further globetrotting has come in the shape of starts on the PGA TOUR at the Puerto Rico Open – where he also finished second – and the Valspar Championship.

He is due to return to DP World Tour action at next week’s Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand for what will be his first start of the European Swing.

On Monday, Jordan Smith came out on top at U.S. Open Final Qualifying at Walton Heath as eight players secured their spots.

U.S. Open Final Qualifying will continue with ten 36-hole events across the US and Canada on June 2, often referred to as Golf’s Longest Day.
