Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is targeting a third Challenge Tour win this season when he tees it up at Odense Eventyr Golf this week in the Danish Golf Challenge.
The Dane enters the week atop the Road to Mallorca Rankings and returns to his home country in a rich vein of form after wins at the Kolkata Challenge and UAE Challenge to go with a second-place finish at the Challenge de España earlier this month.
The 24-year-old now has his sights set on a third victory in five weeks that would earn him automatic promotion to the DP World Tour for the remainder of 2024 and the entirety of the 2025 season.
“I couldn’t have wished for a better start to the season”, he said. “A big goal of mine this year was to win, so having done that twice already is exceeding expectations.
“The new goal is to win a third time, but it’s tough to win. It’s not just enough to play well, you have to have things fall your way.
“I’ll just see if I can put myself in good positions to win and hopefully, I can close the deal when and if that happens."
Neergaard-Petersen – who holds a 450-point lead over second-place Frenchman Alex Levy on the Road to Mallorca Rankings – is pleased to be back on home soil and hopes to leverage his extensive knowledge of Odense Eventyr Golf to be in contention once again this week.
“It’s always nice to play on home soil”, he said. “I’ve played the course 50 times probably, but at the end of the day, when we tee off on Thursday, it’s just another golf tournament.
“Weather will play a big factor. With the greens being soft, if you get good weather, you can shoot a good score out here.
“I’ll try and see if I can put in some good scores and hopefully be in contention to win on Sunday.”
Neergaard-Petersen is joined in the field for the Danish Golf Challenge by Spaniard Joel Moscatel – fresh off his victory at the Challenge de España – as well as Swedes Mikael Lindberg and Björn Åkesson, and Englishman John Parry, all of whom have won on the Road to Mallorca this season.
Also teeing it up in Odense this week are several DP World Tour winners, including four-time winners Marc Warren from Scotland and Englishman David Horsey, who both have winning pedigree in Denmark after securing Made in Denmark titles in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
The Danish Golf Challenge gets underway tomorrow at 7:30am local time, with Neergaard-Petersen teeing off at 1:20pm alongside Moscatel and Englishman Brandon Robinson-Thompson.
