Little more than six months after turning professional, Padraig Harrington captured his maiden European Tour victory. Three strokes clear and playing two final rounds in one day, the young Irishman played his third 18 holes with such composure and skill that he extended his lead to six with a 67 that no other player could match. Several players made afternoon challenges, including Goron Brand Jnr with five birdies in a 68, and Rolf Muntz (69) but Harrington did not look likely to be caught on a sunny afternoon when he countered three bogeys with four birdies.
