Vijay Singh gained his seventh European Tour success, and his 20th worldwide, when he held of Nick Price in an exciting last round battle. Singh, joint leader at the halfway stage, led Price by two shots and Ernie Els by four going into the last round, and closed with a 69 for victory. He had recently abandoned a year-long experiment with a broomhandle putter. "My wife said I'd won nothing with the long putter so I went back to the conventional putter and it worked a treat," said Singh.
