Ryan Fox hit "the best shot I've ever hit in my life" in a play-off at the RBC Canadian Open to win his second PGA TOUR title and earn a place at this week's U.S. Open.
The Kiwi had entered the final day at TPC Toronto in a share of the lead but found himself playing catch up with just a single birdie in his first 13 holes as US Ryder Cup star Sam Burns posted a brilliant 62 to set the target at 18 under.
Fox then birdied the 14th, 15th and 18th to card a 66 and get into a play-off but neither man could produce their best over the first three trips up the 18th, with Burns missing from inside six feet for victory on the first extra hole.
Some magic was needed and Fox was the one who produced it, putting a three wood from 259 yards to seven feet to set up a two-putt birdie and win his second PGA TOUR title in a month after another play-off victory at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic.
His win in South Carolina got him into the US PGA Championship and he has once again made it to a Major at the 11th hour, moving into the top 60 on the Official World Golf Ranking to secure his place at Oakmont.
"It feels like yesterday we're doing this at Myrtle Beach," he said. "I played the PGA and Memorial since then and seem to be making a habit of getting into Majors last minute, which is not a bad problem to have.
"My head's spinning. Obviously I knew I was playing good golf coming into this week. I just wanted to give myself a chance come Sunday afternoon. I did that and was really happy with how I conducted myself today.

"I was really patient early, felt like I wasn't quite there. I hit some great shots down the stretch to get into that play-off.
"Anything can happen, and I was lucky enough it fell my way.
"To hit the shot I hit on 18 on the fourth play-off, it was pretty surreal. It's the best shot I've ever hit in my life. There's nothing close to that."
