Merrick Bremner and Charl Schwartzel made good finishes to their delayed second rounds at the SA Open Championship, but Henrik Stenson will take a three shot lead into the third round.
The Swede had already finished his brilliant second round 65 on Friday long before lightning brought play to an early close.
Four strokes clear on his 13 under total overnight, the 36 year old – chasing a first European Tour win for five years and a spot at the DP World Tour Championship – saw Bremner get within two with back-to-back birdies at the seventh and eighth.
Resuming with four holes to play, the South African then bogeyed the ninth – his last – and signing for a 70 left him three back on two under.
Former Masters Tournament champion Schwartzel made two birdies in his last three holes to advance to eight under and a share of third place, while in the battle for places on the 2013 European Tour International Schedule Scotland’s Craig Lee produced a good finish to move up to a tie for sixth.
Lee currently lies 116th on The Race to Dubai, with the top 119 keeping their cards come close of play on Sunday.
