Matthieu Pavon has been handed the task of getting Continental Europe off to a fast start as they seek a staggering comeback on day three of the 2025 Team Cup.
Trailing 11-4 after Great Britain & Ireland dominated Saturday’s foursomes, Francesco Molinari’s team need to win at least 8½ of Sunday’s ten points to have a chance of retaining the trophy they won in 2023, when it was staged as the Hero Cup.
Pavon and Romain Langasque have won all three of their matches together and will each play early on Sunday, with Langasque taking on Laurie Canter in match three.
Thorbjørn Olesen, who with Niklas Nørgaard has won Continental Europe’s other two half-points, takes on Tyrrell Hatton in between those two matches, with Nørgaard tackling Matthew Jordan in match five after Julien Guerrier’s clash with Great Britain & Ireland Captain Justin Rose.
GB&I’s Paul Waring, who won his Saturday foursomes matches 5&3 and then 6&4, faces Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, match seven pits Antoine Rozner against Matt Wallace and Matteo Manassero takes on Tom McKibbin.
Molinari has saved himself for the ninth match against Jordan Smith, with Rasmus Højgaard and Aaron Rai anchoring their respective sides.
Two points will be enough for GB&I to win the competition, with Fleetwood, Pavon, Langasque and McKibbin each out to complete a perfect four-point record.
