Thanks Matt! Romain Langasque enjoys Pavon partnership at Team Cup

Romain Langasque and Matthieu Pavon continued their valiant efforts at the 2025 Team Cup with a third successive win in Saturday afternoon’s foursomes.

The French pair have been a shining light for Continental Europe despite their team’s 11-4 deficit over the first two days.

They beat Justin Rose and Matt Wallace 3&1 in Friday’s four-balls and followed that on Saturday by winning 3&2 against Jordan Smith and Laurie Canter in the morning and then 4&2 over Rose and Aaron Rai in the afternoon.

Thorbjørn Olesen and Niklas Nørgaard have contributed two half-points but there is no doubt about the star performers for Captain Francesco Molinari’s team.

Langasque was happy to justify Molinari’s faith and said: “Yeah, today we’ve been great together.

“Of course I am very happy to get these three points done, showing that the pairing with Matt was a good idea and we can beat anyone.

“It was great - thanks Matt!”

The pair have never trailed in their three matches and indeed have been tied for only one of the 49 holes they have played, after Pavon missed a short putt at the eighth against Smith and Canter.

He said: “They told us how important it is to have a quick start this week and in the three matches, we got birdie on the first.

“It was off to a great start, and then we kind of set a pace and made a couple good shots and dropped a few putts and we kind of stayed in front and ahead of the group all day.”

Pavon opens up for Continental Europe against Tommy Fleetwood on Sunday while Langasque takes on Canter again in match three.

Langasque said: “I think tomorrow is going to be a tough day for us as a team because I think we are way behind. But we’ve done our best, and I think tomorrow we are going to do our best as well.

“As long as we are not done, we have a chance. So we will go, we will fight, and we will see what happens.
