Contested over 18 holes of stroke play from 7:30am on July 13, 12 players will compete for the final spot at Royal Birkdale in a new one-day event brought in by The R&A.

Joining Arnaus and Hidalgo from the DP World Tour are Joe Dean, Andrew Wilson and Marcus Helligkilde.

Arnaus and Hidalgo along with Dean and Wilson have all previously played in The Open, while Dane Helligkilde is targeting his debut at a Major Championship.

Dean missed out on progressing from Final Qualifying, losing out on the final spot on offer at West Lancashire, while Hidalgo and Wilson both fell one shot shy at Dundonald Links.

The field also includes PGA TOUR winner Aldrich Potgieter, who won The Amateur Championship as a 17-year-old in 2022, and German World Number 65 Matti Schmid, who finished tied fourth at last month’s US Open.

John Gough won his first HotelPlanner Tour title last month and the Englishman will aim to progress to his Open debut after narrowly missing out at Final Qualifying.

YouTube star Wesley Bryan is also set to be in action, along with Charles Huntzinger  and amateur duo Sam Easterbrook and Matt Maloney, runner-up at this year's Amateur Championship.

The full field, subject to change, is as follows:

• Aldrich Potgieter

• Matti Schmid

• Matt Moloney (a)

• Joe Dean

• Sam Easterbrook (a)

• Adri Arnaus

• John Gough

• Angel Hidalgo

• Charles Huntzinger

Marcus Helligkilde

Andrew Wilson

• Wesley Bryan

All players earned their places in the Last-Chance Qualifier after meeting the exemption criteria set out by The R&A.

The 12 invited players were determined using criteria applied in order as follows:

1. The leading two non-exempt players in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) as published on Monday 6 July.

2. The runner-up in The Amateur Championship, provided that player is still an amateur on Monday 13 July.

3. Players who did not secure a place in The Open having been in a play-off at Final Qualifying.

4. Players who finished one position behind those who secured a place in The Open at Final Qualifying.

5. Players who were tied for a qualifying place in Open Qualifying Series events (excluding Scotland) but did not qualify due to a lower position in the Official World Golf Ranking, or by losing in the play-off for first place in the OQS event.
