The hotel, which is set in over 650 acres of Welsh countryside, is home to 143 bedrooms and Wales’ largest spa and is less than 30 minutes away from Royal Porthcawl Golf Club, host venue of this year’s Senior Open Championship, sanctioned by the R&A, European Senior Tour and PGA TOUR Champions, from July 27-30.

The Vale Resort has hosted some of the world’s biggest sporting names including football stars Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo and serves as a training base for the Welsh National Rugby Union team, Cardiff Blues and Cardiff City Football Club. It was also used by the Welsh National Football Team in preparation for Euro 2016 and hosted the British and Irish Lions ahead of their tour of Australia in 2013 and will welcome them again this month.

Paul Beddoe, sales and marketing director at The Vale Resort, said: “The Vale Resort is steeped in golfing history, boasting two fantastic championship golf courses, the Wales National Golf Course and the Lake Golf Course, which people travel far and wide to play on.

“Being named as the Official Hotel for the Senior Open Championship is a true privilege and will no doubt be a sporting highlight of the year for us to be able to host some of the world’s golfing legends and top professionals this July.”

Some of golf’s most recognisable stars will be based at The Vale Resort during the Championship week, as Wales prepares to host the likes of Bernhard Langer, Paul McGinley, Colin Montgomerie, José María Olazábal and Tom Watson.
