The Open Championship has introduced on-line ticket sales on the
R&A’s web site

This allows ticket ordering and payment to proceed by means of credit or debit card through a secure connection, with tickets being mailed from St Andrews soon after.
So far on–line sales have exceeded expectations and the R&A anticipate this method to take an increasing share of sales in the future.
All aspects of Open Championship security are carefully considered by the R&A and, for this reason, a ‘No Pass-Out’ system will be introduced at Royal St George’s in 2003.
This system will be similar to the one introduced at the Ryder Cup and will require each general admission, daily or season ticket to be punched at the pay gates. Once a ticket has been punched, the holder may not leave the venue and use the same ticket for re-admission.
The 2003 Open Championship will be played at Royal St. George's from 17th to 20th July.
