The Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand returned to the DP World Tour’s global schedule after a four-year absence, taking place at Gut Altentann, host venue of the first three editions of Austria’s national open from 1990-1992.

The tournament will move to the state of Tyrol next year with the support of Kitzbühel Tourism. Viktoria Veider-Walser, Managing Director of Kitzbühel Tourism, adds: "We are very pleased that the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course will be the venue for the next Austrian Alpine Open and thus part of the DP World Tour.

“With no less than four golf courses on site, Kitzbühel is one of the leading golf regions in the Alpine region. Golf is a strategic strength of our summer positioning, and we have launched a clear quality offensive with targeted investments – for example in the golf and bike sectors. We also see this as a strong solidarity between Salzburg and Tyrol."

Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of Golf Enterprises and organizer of the Austrian Alpine Open, added: "With the DP World Tour, we will not only bringing top-class sport at the highest level to Kitzbühel, but also positioning the region as an international golf destination with sustainable potential. The combination of sporting excellence, fantastic natural scenery and first-class infrastructure makes the Austrian Alpine Open a real highlight in the tournament calendar - for professionals and visitors alike.”

Christian Harisch, Chairman of Kitzbühel Tourism, said: “It is a great statement for the future of Kitzbühel as the alpine destination for the whole year. Kitzbühel combines cosmopolitanism, quality and hospitality at the highest level. With events like this, we show what modern year-round tourism in the Alpine region can look like: international, sustainable and inspired by a real passion for sport and nature.”

Leo Bauernberger, Managing Director of SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH, one of the initiators of the comeback of the DP World Tour in Austria, said: “The partnership with Tyrol in hosting the Austrian Alpine Open as part of the DP World Tour is a strong signal for the alpine sports and tourism region. Together, we manage to increase the visibility of our regions as first-class golf destinations internationally. This cooperation not only brings top-class sport to us, but also strengthens value creation and the tourist profile in the low season.“
