The total prize money at this week’s U.S. Open is $21.5 million, with the winner set to earn $4.3 million.
The prize pot remains unchanged from last year, but it is still the most given out of all four men’s Major Championships.
Of the 156-strong field at Oakmont Country Club, the top 60 and ties made the cut with 67 players - including amateur Justin Hastings from the Cayman Islands - progressing to the final two rounds at seven over or better.
For those professionals who missed the cut, they still earn $10,000.
Sam Burns holds a one-shot lead over fellow American J.J. Spaun at the halfway stage, with Viktor Hovland the only other player under par through 36 holes.
