Alex Fitzpatrick enjoyed an excellent week with the putter as he won the Hero Indian Open but it may well have been his new-found consistency further up the bag that helped him to a maiden DP World Tour victory.
The Englishman's Odyssey Ai-ONE 7 S short stick helped him to second in average putts and first in putts per GIR in his stunning final round at DLF Golf and Country Club as he finished top in putts per GIR and fourth in SG putting across the week.
But since last season's Genesis Championship in South Korea he has changed all of his major weapons off the tee and that looks to be the key to what could prove to be a true breakout season.
He put the Ping G440 LST driver in for the final regular event of the 2025 season and since then has added the TaylorMade Qi4D three and seven woods at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
While never known for his distance at a respectable 295-300 yards off the tee the last two seasons, Fitzpatrick has gone from 133rd at 54.93% to 14th at 65.79% in driving accuracy from 2025 to 2026.
In Gurugram last week, he found 78.57% of fairways on a course where errors are renowned for being punished.
On a layout also known for its elevation changes, Fitzpatrick went for the loft of a TaylorMade Qi35 nine wood over a Titleist T100 four iron, a common tactic for the 27-year-old dependent on the layout he is facing.
The Titleist T100 irons were in his set from five to nine while his 46, 50 and 56-degree wedges are Titleist Vokey SM11, with a 60-degree Titleist Vokey SM11-WW Proto.
Fitzpatrick plays with a Titleist Pro V1 X 2023 ball.
