After a rollercoaster final round at Glendower GC, 22 year old Brandon Stone held his nerve to claim a maiden victory at The BMW SA Open hosted by City of Ekurhuleni. The young South African made only five pars alongside seven birdies and six bogeys on his way to shooting a 71 which was good enough to give him a two-shot victory over fellow countryman Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
Stone made short work of the 7564 yard Glendower course, averaging 313.8 yards off the tee with his Ping, G30 driver, the eighth longest of anyone who competed last week.
Victory last week has propelled Stone from 249thin the World Rankings to 118thand there is little doubt that the 22 year old will have his sights set on breaking the top 100 as he heads to the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington GC for this week’s Joburg Open.
