We take a look inside the bag of Graeme Storm after his long-awaited win at the 2017 BMW SA Open hosted by City of Ekurhuleni.

The Englishman sealed his first European Tour victory in nearly ten years with an outstanding performance across all four days at Glendower Golf Club, culminating in an exhilarating play-off victory on the third extra hole against World Number Two Rory McIlory.

The win moved Storm into fourth place on the Race to Dubai, catapulting him up the Official Golf World Rankings by nearly 120 places in the process.

Armed with his TaylorMade M1 440 (10.5°), driving accuracy was certainly a strength for Storm. He placed tenth with an overall percentage of 69.6% fairways hit and this no doubt played a large factor in the overall quality of his scoring.

Storm also boasted an impressive average driving distance of 301.8 yards, placing him firmly in the top 20 for the tournament alongside big-hitters Pep Angles (318.9) and McIlroy (316.1).

Using his TaylorMade Aeroburner and M2 fairway woods, as well as his Taylormade Psi Irons, Storm’s approach game fared well as he hit 75% of greens-in-regulation, giving himself the best chance to make the vital birdies required to stave off the advancing McIlroy, Jordan L Smith and Dean Burmester.

Bunker play and the ability to get up-and-down is often key to a win on the European Tour, and this was no different at Glendower. Using a selection of Titleist Vokey SM6 wedges, including a 52° and a 58°, Storm was able to make crucial saves from his rare missed greens, including five out of five from the sand, placing him alongside only two other competitors with a perfect score in this field.

Equipped with his Odyssey Versa WBW 2-Ball Tank, Storm applied the finishing touches to his all-round solid approach play. With an average 27.8 putts per round, and an overall placing of eighth. Storm held his nerve on the greens to ensure it was indeed he who was taking the trophy home come Sunday afternoon.
