Henrik Stenson claimed his 10th European Tour title with a three shot victory at the BMW International Open at Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof. This result lifts him one place from 7th to 6th in the Race to Dubai rankings as he continues his pursuit of a second Harry Vardon Trophy.
Stenson has always been known for his precision golf and this week was no different as he topped the driving accuracy statistics for the week on 83.9%. Distance, as well as accuracy, was on display throughout Stenson’s tournament as he averaged 289.1 yards (8th) off the tee, reminding him of the importance of his Callaway XR 16 driver.
While his Callaway Diablo Octane Tour (13°) and his Callaway XR Pro 16 (18°) helped him to take advantage of the par 5s, it was his irons that helped him truly excel. Stenson’s Callaway Legacy Black irons helped him hit a staggering 86.1% of greens in regulation in Germany which made him 1st once again in that particular statistic.
Stenson went for 52° and 58° Callaway Mack Daddy 3 Milled wedges, and this helped him to save a respectable 66.7% from the sand.
With 31.5 putts per round, this was by no means Stenson’s best week with the putter as he ranked 58th overall. However, using his Odyssey W/H XG # 7 putter, he was able to maintain a solid presence on the greens that ensured he benefitted from his superb play from tee-to-green.
