Repelling the persistent advances of reigning Open Champion Henrik Stenson, Garcia put on a tremendous display over the course of the four days, starting with an enthralling seven under par 65 and ending with a patient bogey-free three under par 69, finishing two shots clear.
Armed with his TaylorMade TP5 (9.5°), Garcia excelled in both driving accuracy and distance, placing second and third respectively in each field. Achieving 69.6% fairways hit, and an average yardage of 305, Garcia often avoided the notorious Dubai desert sand which hugs numerous fairways at Emirates Golf Club.
With his TaylorMade P750 (3-9) irons in hand, and taking full advantage of his excellent driving form, the now 12-time European Tour winner placed first in approach shot accuracy with a green in regulation percentage of 81.9.
With so many greens in regulation hit it is no surprise to see Garcia again placing high in our next important metric, putts per green in regulation. With an average 1.6 putts per green, Garcia and his TaylorMade TP Collection Juno putter placed 14th in the field, concluding a fantastic all-round performance for the popular Spaniard.
