Who can win the European Swing?

As the DP World Tour arrives in Germany for the BMW International Open, the equation is simple as to who can win the European Swing.

While there are often a multitude of permutations, involving a number of players, the picture is far clearer this week in Germany.

The back-to-back wins for Eugenio Chacarra at the KLM Open and DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia mean the Spaniard holds a commanding lead in the standings.

With 1,328.30 points accumulated over five apparances, Chacarra is 496.89 points ahead of second-placed Kota Kaneko and 699.11 points clear of Richard Sterne in third.

As with previous events during the Swing, 585.00 points are on offer for the winner at Golfclub München Eichenried, meaning only Kaneko can overtake Chacarra and claim Swing success.

But to do so, the Japanese needs to win, having become a first-time DP World Tour winner earlier in the Swing in Austria.

And even then, Chacarra would still be crowned Swing champion should he finish in a three-way tie for seventh or better.

What else is at play?

At the end of the week, the first five DP World Tour members and any tying for fifth place, not otherwise exempt, in the top 20 of the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World will get a spot into The 154th Open.

Those spots are currently occupied by Jayden Schaper, Andy Sullivan, Dan Bradbury, Oliver Lindell and Mikael Lindberg.

All five players sit between fourth and 11th on the Race to Dubai.

With both Kaneko and Daniel Hillier already exempt at Royal Birkdale, Bernd Wiesberger is on the outside as he looks to force his way in.
