Commentators' column: Who will win the Race to Dubai?

The Race to Dubai is set for one of its tightest finishes in years as we head into the DP World Tour Play-Offs.

Andrew Coltart

At the end of the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship we could have a winner in Eugenio Chacarra but the Spaniard is one of four players who could top the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World come Sunday night.

Patrick Reed, Rory McIlroy or Casey Jarvis could all find themselves on top, while a good week for a player further back could open up the door for them going into next week's season finale at the DP World Tour Championship.

So here at Yas Links there is one question on everybody's lips: Who will win the Race to Dubai?

We asked some members of this week's commmentary team - players turned broadcasters Andrew Coltart, David Howell, Dame Laura Davies and Anthony Wall and lead commentator Dominik Holyer - for their winner.

Andrew Coltart

Eugenio Chacarra

I think Eugenio Chacarra will win the Race to Dubai. He's 600 points out there in front and he's very, very confident with a tremendous amount of belief out there. And I'm not really sure that I've seen too much from Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy and some of the other chasers yet to think that anything's going to change over the next couple of weeks, but we will see.

David Howell

Rory McIlroy

Andrew thinks Chacarra is going to win and I think McIlroy is going to win. He loves next week, the Earth Course, that is literally his home. He wants to get that eighth Race to Dubai title and move alongside Monty. I'd never ever back against McIlroy so I think he's the man.

Eugenio Chacarra

Dame Laura Davies

Eugenio Chacarra

I think Chacarra. With the lead, the confidence, the way he's been playing over the last, what, six to eight months, it's fantastic He's full of confidence and I cannot see them getting past him. Patrick's not playing his best and Rory's not quite on it, so Chacarra for me.

Rory McIlroy

Anthony Wall

Rory McIlroy

Rory for me. I think Rory's going to win. Next week seems to be his place. Eight Race to Dubais, he's tough to beat, he can lob it over every bunker at about 330 yards. It's made for him once more. Eugenio has had an amazing season. Is he going to be a little bit tired? Possibly. Patrick Reed, I think, is still slightly injured from hitting that root on the ninth at Wentworth at the BMW PGA. So I think Rory is the man.

Patrick Reed

Dominik Holyer

Patrick Reed

Well I'm going to go for Patrick Reed because everyone seems to be overlooking him. If you look at his form this season, his two wins came in the Middle East. He won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and then he won in Qatar as well. So he's got good form in this part of the world. He's an exceptional player. He's got a wonderful short game and there are so many points available over the next couple of weeks that I think he could easily do it. He's only 600-odd points behind Chacarra so for me, it's Patrick Reed.
