Ahead of the week’s BMW PGA Championship, Oliver Wilson was put to the test by the European Tour Performance Institute (ETPI) to assess his physical condition.
Checking in on the data and seeing progress for the year is a key part of an athlete’s routine, with this week’s Rolex Series event working towards the business end of the Race to Dubai.
Under observation of Dr Dan Coughlan, physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach, two-time DP World Tour winner Wilson underwent baseline fitness testing.
The seasonal assessment is pivotal in providing insights into an athlete’s risk during an exacting campaign.
“This is really productive not just for helping to increase your capacity to hit further but also injury prevention because as soon as you start hitting it further, if your technique is not right you are going to get injured,” Wilson said.
“So, it is a balance. If you can come at it from every angle, it will hopefully stick.”
