The HotelPlanner Tour heads to Spain for the Challenge de Cadiz at Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri this week. Here are three men to keep an eye on…
Form horse: Jonathan Gøth-Rasmussen
Defending champion Jonathan Gøth-Rasmussen arrives back in Cadiz full of confidence having sealed his second HotelPlanner Tour title on home soil in dramatic fashion at last week’s Danish Golf Challenge. The Dane started the final round three shots back of Scotland’s Calum Fyfe before a final round five under par 67 at Bogense Golf Club saw him finish on 19 under par and one ahead of Fyfe.
The 2016 Junior Ryder Cup player returns to defend his title this week having held his nerve to secure a maiden victory at the Challenge de Cadiz last season and join his father in the HotelPlanner Tour’s winner’s circle. The 27-year-old is the son of Jacob Rasmussen, who won the Torneo RCG de Sevilla in 1993.
Local boy: Adri Arnaus
Adri Arnaus is hoping to taste victory for the second time on home soil as he prepares to tee it up in Cadiz this week. The Spaniard earned promotion to the DP World Tour in 2018 after winning the season ending Ras Al Khaimah Grand Final in 2018, however after enjoying five seasons on golf’s Global Tour he narrowly missed out on retaining his playing privileges for 2025.
The 30-year-old returned to the HotelPlanner Tour this year and he will be hoping to leverage fond memories of playing in his homeland this week, following a maiden DP World Tour at the Catalunya Championship in 2022.
The outsider: Calum Fyfe
Calum Fyfe will be hoping to build on his best HotelPlanner Tour finish at last week’s Danish Golf Challenge, which has earnt him a spot at the Challenge de Cadiz. The Scotsman led after each of the three opening rounds in Denmark but finished one-shot behind Gøth-Rasmussen after a closing 71. The 27-year-old’s runner up finish has seen him catapult into 15th position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and he will be hoping to continue that positive momentum in Spain.
