Ahead of this year’s D+D REAL Czech Challenge at Golf & Spa Kunětická Hora, we dive into ten noteworthy statistics from the Dříteč event.
6-The number of D+D REAL Czech Challenge champions. This year marks the seventh time the tournament has been part of the European Challenge Tour International Schedule, which is known as the Road to Ras Al Khaimah. The first event was held in 2012 and was won by Denmark’s Andreas Hartø.
204-The number of spots 2017 D+D REAL Czech Challenge winner Julian Suri jumped in the Official World Golf Rankings following his victory last season.
1,070-More remarkable still, last year’s champion Suri began the 2017 Challenge Tour season positioned 1142ndin the Official World Golf Ranking. Aided by his victory in the Czech Republic, and by a win at the Made in Denmark on the European Tour in August, Suri soared 1,070 places all the way to World Number 72 by the time the 2018 Challenge Tour season began in Kenya. That week, the Challenge Tour graduate was playing the WGC- Dell Technologies Match Play on the European Tour’s International Schedule.
0.19-The number of shots under par the first hole averaged for the week. Statistically speaking, the par four was the easiest hole of the tournament. Fittingly, the par three 17thhole, which was the most difficult hole in the event, played exactly 0.19 strokes over par—golf giveth and golf taketh away.
3-The number of strokes that represent the largest margin of victory in the event’s history. In 2013, France’s François Calmels joined inaugural champion Hartø, for a share of the tournament record, in an event that has since gone down to the wire.
7-The differential between the highest and lowest winning scores. In 2015, Jens Fahrbring fired rounds of 66-70-67-68 to finish on 17 under par and record the highest winning total in the D+D REAL Czech Challenge. Contrastingly, the winning mark of 24 under par has been reached twice.
264-Also represented as 24 under par, is the tournament record for winning score that has been achieved twice. First in 2012, by the Danish Hartø, and again in 2016 by France’s Damien Perrier. That is some seriously impressive golf.
656-The length, in yards, of the monstrous par five 11th, which will be virtually unreachable in two for even the longest hitters on Tour. The second hole, also a par five, measures 609 yards, which means that half of the par fives at Golf & Spa Kunětická Hora stretch beyond the 600-yard benchmark.
151-Balancing out the beastly par fives is the shortest hole at Golf & Spa Kunětická Hora, which measures just a yard over 150. The par three 13thplayed to an average score of 2.92 and featured a hole-in-one in the first round by Scotland’s Jack McDonald.
3-
The number of holes-in-one at last year’s tournament. It is quite rare to have multiple aces in one week, let alone three. The eighth, the 13
th
and the 17
th
, each yielded a one-and-done in 2017. This astounding feat brought the total number of holes-in-one at the D+D REAL Czech Challenge to four.
