Jesper Svensson teed it up alongside World Number One Scottie Scheffler during the final round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, as the 2023 HotelPlanner Tour graduate continued to impress in his debut PGA TOUR season.
The Swede earned his DP World Tour card in 2023 after finishing fifth in the HotelPlanner Tour’s Road to Mallorca Rankings.
Svensson’s maiden HotelPlanner Tour victory came at the B-NL Challenge Trophy, where he finished one shot clear of Brandon Stone on 14 under par.
The 29-year-old’s DP World Tour breakthrough came just three months into the 2024 season after he beat Kiradech Aphibarnrat in a play-off at the Porsche Singapore Classic.
Svensson’s victory, coupled with three second-place finishes and two other top tens, saw him end the year tenth in the 2024 Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex, and in turn secured his PGA Tour status for 2025.
Up against a high calibre field in Houston, Svensson impressed during the first three rounds at Memorial Park Golf Course, shooting scores of 67-69-63.
Sitting on 11 under heading into the final round, one shot back of Scheffler, Svensson had a front row seat as the reigning Masters Tournament champion mounted an impressive back nine challenge before eventually being edged out by Australian Min Woo Lee.
Svensson signed for a two over 72 to end the week in a tie for 27th, with a top 30 finish continuing what has been an impressive start to life on the PGA Tour.
The 29-year-old began his season with a tenth-place finish at the Sony Open, and last missed a cut at the Farmers Insurance Open in January.
The Swede’s performance in Texas means he’s made the cut in six consecutive PGA Tour events and climbs to 97th in the FedExCup Standings.
