The 126th U.S. Open Championship returns to Shinnecock Hills for the first time since former HotelPlanner Tour member Brooks Koepka was victorious in 2018 and plenty of alumni will join the five-time Major Champion in the field this week.
There are 26 former members in the field in total, with two 2025 Road to Mallorca graduates featuring in the shape of Rocco Repetto Taylor and Filippo Celli. The pair came through U.S. Open qualifying at Walton Heath last month to earn their spot at Shinnecock, with both making their U.S. Open debut this week.
Six more players secured their place at Shinnecock Hills via Walton Heath, including debutants Nathan Kimsey, Angel Hidalgo, Ugo Coussaud, and Hennie Du Plessis, with Matthew Jordan and Niklas Nørgaard returning for the latest edition of golf’s toughest major.
Notable recent graduates Kristoffer Reitan and Alex Fitzpatrick will be hoping to keep up their excellent form at the third major of the year. Class of ’24 graduate Reitan has made the cut at The Masters and the PGA Championship this year, and will be looking to add another strong finish this week to his improving CV, while 2023 graduate Fitzpatrick makes his U.S. Open debut.
The younger of the Fitzpatrick brothers was there to celebrate the U.S. Open victory of his brother Matt, who won the 2022 edition at The Country Club in Brookline. The older brother is one of three former HotelPlanner Tour players to have won the third major of 2026, along with 2013 victor Justin Rose and 2017 and 2018 winner Koepka, the latter of those coming at this week’s venue.
Koepka finished one stroke ahead of 2011 Number One Tommy Fleetwood, who will be hoping to break his major duck this week. He features alongside other European favourites including PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai and Robert MacIntyre, runner up at the 2025 US Open. European Ryder Cup stars Tyrrell Hatton, Nicolai Højgaard and Alex Noren are also in the field.
The final HotelPlanner Tour alumni teeing it up this week include Matti Schmid, who earned a top five at the PGA Championship last month, as well as Laurie Canter, Ryan Fox, John Parry, Peter Uihlein, Jayden Schaper and Adrien Saddier.
The U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club will take place from June 18-21, 2026.
