Italian Open: Day 2 in numbers

After another low scoring day in Milan, europeantour.com takes a statistical look back at the best of the action from the second round of the 74th Italian Open.

2- Players tied for the 36-hole lead at Golf Club Milano as Marcus Fraser putted his way to a 13 under par total alongside Open de Portugal winner Matt Wallace

+7.55- Strokes gained on the field putting for Fraser so far this week - no one has gained more shots on the greens

65- Fraser has needed just 65 putts in his last three rounds on this course having only taken 22 in the final round last year, 22 on Thursday and 21 on Friday

+9.23- Strokes gained from tee to green for Wallace - more than any other player

5- This is Fraser's fifth 36-hole European Tour lead for Fraser (including the 2016 Olympics). He has gone on to win once in the previous four (the 2010 Ballantine's Championship

5- Cuts made in 19 starts so far this season for Fraser, who has admitted it's been a difficult year. He said after his round "It's been a rough year. I've been close packing it in and heading home."

2- This is Wallace's second 36-hole European Tour lead after the Open de Portugal this year. He would go on to win wire-to-wire in Portimao

3- Francesco Molinari is still in the hunt for an unprecented third win in the Italian Open after shooting 64-67. The Italian, who is three off the lead at the halfway stage, would become the first player to win more than two Italian Open titles since the 1950s

15- Birdies for Molinari so far this week, two more than any other player

0- Two players remain bogey-free through 36 holes (Fraser and Austin Connelly)

22- Nicolas Colsaerts has averaged a mammoth 317 yards off the tee so far in Milan, 22 yards more than any other player

291- Yards Jamie Donaldson faced into the par five ninth on Friday. He elected to take driver off the deck and duly hit his approach into 18 inches

1- Amateur to make the cut - Italian Lorenzo Scalise, who shot 69-69 to make the weekend on the number

80.2- The par five 14th is ranking the easiest hole on the European Tour so far this season at -0.84 to par. It has had the most birdies or better of any hole (80.2 per cent), the fewest bogeys or worse (2.3 per cent) and its average score (4.16) is lower than two par fours this week (the 13th is 4.18 and the 16th is 4.19)
