The Road to Mallorca remains in France for the second of back-to-back weeks in the country. The Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge takes place at Golf PGA France de Vaudreuil from June 26-29, and here’s all you need to know…
Big name winners
This week marks the 12th edition of the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, with several notable names having triumphed on the parkland layout since it made its debut on the Road to Mallorca schedule in 2013. New Zealander Ryan Fox won the third edition of the event and has since gone on to become one of the world’s best. A four-time DP World Tour winner, he’s also won twice on the PGA TOUR in the last six weeks. Other standout winners include two-time DP World Tour winner, Aaron Rai, who stormed to a five shot victory in the fifth edition at Golf PGA France de Vaudreuil, and six-time winner on golf’s Global Tour, Marcel Siem. Fellow DP World Tour winners, Andrew Johnston, Alexander Björk, Richard McEvoy and Darren Fichardt have also won here.
Grandstand finishes
Golf PGA France de Vaudreuil has a track-record of producing grandstand finishes, with several of the names mentioned above doing so with late heroics. Fox’s maiden HotelPlanner Tour win came thanks to a birdie on the 72nd hole, a feat that was replicated by Siem six years later. In 2018 Englishman McEvoy was tied for the lead with three holes to play in Normandy, but fired birdies on 16 and 18 to run out a two-stroke victor. Play-off drama has also been present in recent years, with each of the last two editions – South African Fichardt in 2023 and Spaniard Joel Moscatel in 2024 - going to extra holes. More late drama could await this week.
DP World Tour Qualifying School venue
Although a regular stop on the HotelPlanner Tour, Golf PGA France de Vaudreuil will make its debut as a DP World Tour Qualifying School venue this year. It will take its place as a First Stage venue, with DP World Tour and HotelPlanner Tour hopefuls set to tee it up across four rounds from October 7-10.
A home winner?
The Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, in its 12 editions, is yet to see a French winner, but this could be the week it changes. Several home favourites arrive in Normandy in fine form, and with winning pedigree already on the 2025 Road to Mallorca. Clement Charmasson is one of those and currently sits 11th in the Rankings, thanks largely to earning a maiden HotelPlanner Tour win in the Challenge de España in May. Just three weeks ago, Félix Mory picked up his first win since 2021, with that result seeing him climb to sixth in the Rankings. Oihan Guillamoundeguy, – who finished tied eighth here last year - Robin Sciot-Siegrist (49th in the Rankings) and Sebastien Gros (57th in the Rankings) are three other Frenchmen to have recorded a top ten finish this term and could be worth keeping an eye on.
