Molinari makes huge Race to Dubai move after Trophee Hassan II victory

Italy's Edoardo Molinari claimed his first European Tour title since 2010 in a thrilling contest at the Trophée Hassan II after beating Ireland's Paul Dunne on the first play-off hole at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, Morocco.

The 36-year-old’s impressive win saw him move 76 positions in the European Tour's Race to Dubai rankings as he jumped from 90th to 14th place after winning 416,660 points, putting him on the cusp of a place in the prestigious season-ending DP World Tour Championship, taking place at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai from November 16-19, as he upped his season tally to 494,086.

Overnight leader Dunne’s search for a maiden European Tour title continues but his runner-up finish gained him 277,770 points as he moved from 66th to 20th position in the Race to Dubai rankings.

England's Paul Waring finished third and in the process won 156,500 points and jumped from 48th to 28th.

Denmark's Lasse Jensen and Victor Dubuisson of France shared fourth place to claim 115,500 points each. Jensen moved from 53rd to 32nd while Dubuisson moved to 73rd.

English duo Chris Hanson and Daniel Brooks shared sixth place and gained 81,250 points each. Hanson broke into Race to Dubai's top 60 as he progressed from 72nd to 52nd while Brooks made big strides after jumping 58 places, moving from 129th to 71st.

England's James Morrison, France's Matthieu Pavon, Spain's Pablo Larrazabal, Sweden's Jens Fahrbring, Joost Luiten of the Netherlands and South Africa's Haydn Porteous all shared 13th place and won 36,083 points each. Morisson moved from 54th to 47th while Larrazabal and Luiten both solidified their places in 23rd and 41st respectively.

Spain's Sergio Garcia remains on the top of the Race to Dubai rankings with a season tally of 2,440,596. England's Tommy Fleetwood is in second with 1,619,166 points and Spain's Jon Rahm is in third, having racked up 1,509,829 points so far this season.
