Defending champion Anthony Wall produced a big finish for the second day in a row to move into the last 16 at the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play.
The Englishman defeated Sam Walker on the last in the first round and repeated the trick on Friday against Haydn Porteous to set up a clash against Ryder Cup winner Jamie Donaldson.
Local favourite Florian Fritsch delighted the crowd at Golf Resort Bad Griesbach with a 2 and 1 win over Lucas Bjerregaard and he will next face Englishman Robert Rock.
It was a good morning for England with Ashley Chesters and Chris Paisley both advancing and they will take on Adrian Otaegui and Ashun Wu respectively.
Wall was in trouble against Porteous - whom he defeated in the quarter-finals last season - at two down after 12 holes before fighting back.
The 42 year old was one up after seven holes but the South African won the eighth and ninth and although Wall eagled the tenth, Porteous hit back to win the 11th and 12th.
Wall hit back on the 13th and 15th but Porteous edged back ahead on the next before a birdie-par finish saw the two-time European Tour winner through.
"I feel sorry for Haydn because he's been struggling a lot of the year and I think he played really well today and that's match play," said Wall "It's one or two holes or one or two shots and luckily it was my turn.
"You want to just keep playing, keep working hard and not give anything away. I played great on the front nine but I gave away eight and nine with a par and a bogey and it stuck in my mind not to do it again. Whenever you get a chance to grab one you take it.
"Jamie Donaldson is a top player, clearly he's played match play at the highest level. He's a good friend just coming back to form and it will be a great game."
Donaldson lost the first two holes against Spaniard Jorge Campillo but won the third, fourth, sixth, eighth and tenth before sealing a 4 and 3 triumph with a par on the 15th.
A poor start from Bjerregaard allowed Fritsch to get three up after three holes and while the Dane birdied the eighth and ninth, a win on the 11th from Fristch was followed by six halved holes.
Rock - looking for a first European Tour win in five years - was one down stood on the 16th tee but went birdie-birdie to turn the tables and when Raphael Jacquelin found the water on the last, the Frenchman was heading home.
Wu was very impressive on Thursday in beating match play specialist Nicolas Colsaerts 4 and 3 and he carried that form over when beating Swede Rikard Karlberg 3 and 1.
The Chinese never trailed in the match and was eight under for his 17 holes in a comprehensive victory.
"We played very, very good, made a lot of birdies today and my iron shots were very good to leave ten feet for birdie," said Wu. "He played good too, he's a very, very good player.
"It just feels the same. Same feeling, same thinking, same shots, same putts, that's it."
Paisley made just two birdies in his 16 holes but that was enough to seal a 4 and 2 win over countryman Nathan Kimsey.
Spaniard Otaegui was nine under for 16 holes in defeating Gary Stal in round one but he trailed one down after 11 against Italian Nino Bertasio on Friday. A birdie-birdie-birdie run from the 12th turned the match on its head and a 3 and 2 victory was sealed on the 16th.
Edoardo Molinari was another Italian to exit in the second round as Chesters claimed a 2 and 1 win against the man who needed a record 24 holes to defeat Robert Karlsson on Thursday.
