Our man at the Casa Serena Open delves behind the scenes at the Senior Tour gathering in the Czech Republic....
Kutna Hora: a hidden gem....
Another voyage of discovery brought A Slice of the Action to the Czech Republic this week to discover a real hidden gem in the delightful town of Kutna Hora. A charming and classic Czech town, Kutna Hora is full of amazing gothic architecture and wonderfully winding hidden streets that lead to more than a few good restaurants and funky bars. Thoroughly recommended for anyone looking for an inexpensive weekend away and only an hour and a half’s drive from Prague.
A night at the Chateau Monsieur? Certainly my good man.....
The great and the good of the Senior Tour were treated to their annual gathering at the stunning Chateau Roztez on Friday night. The castle has a wonderfully imposing presence looking over the golf course and contains the most enchanting gardens where the players and their wives and partners were given the royal treatment and treated to the finest wines and most sumptuous feast, the highlight of which was a beautiful hog roast over an open fire. Apart from the modern clothing and a few i-phones, we could have been in the 1400s.......

Not one to be brought down by this news, Mitch was soon looking at the positives, the main one being that the Czech Republic is a mecca for clean, crisp premium-strength lager. The beers are on us Pedro.....
The better half gets Oldcorn back on track!

Andrew Oldcorn took a different road to golfing redemption – he called the wife! After a poor run of form and poor first round at Casa Serena golf, the Scot got on the phone on Friday night and had a “severe” talking to from his wife Kirstin. The result? A brilliant second round 66 that, with a bit of luck on the greens, could have been 62. Lesson learned and let’s hope Kirsty keeps the mobile turned on for the rest of the season......
