Course
Opened – 1995
Course Designer – Robert Trent Jones junior
Special Features - Beauty has been highlighted in the design and landscaping with breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and the West Coast of Barbados from almost all areas of the golf course.
General Playability - The par 3 holes are among the best four in the world. Each is a different length, has a different direction, and poses an intriguing individual challenge. While Royal Westmoreland is a relatively wide course in the landing areas, placement is definitely a key for low scoring. First looks can be intimidating, as can be the wind. The par 5's are true three-shot holes, with the exception no. 14 on the tournament course and that hole still requires pin point accuracy in the second shot for the eagle or birdie opportunity. All the par 4's are strong, but the wide fairways on some holes do allow for variance in tee accuracy.
Undulating/Flat - Very undulating terrain.
Treelined/exposed - The golf course is landscaped with low maintenance but extremely beautiful plant material. On some holes, missing the landing area will result in a lost ball or at the least having an unplayable lie. Some of the landscaped areas are four feet deep feather grass.
Many / few water hazards - There are gullies or water to cross on ten holes.
