Two-time Major Champion John Daly will make his debut in a regular European Senior Tour event next week in the inaugural Paris Legends Championship at Le Golf National.
The American made his over-50s bow earlier this year at The Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex, and will take part in his first regular Senior Tour event at the host venue for The 2018 Ryder Cup.
Daly will be joined by fellow Major winner Ian Woosnam in France, a country where the 1991 Masters champion has enjoyed success in the past.
Woosnam secured his eighth European Tour title in the 1987 Trophée Lancôme and won in consecutive years in France at the 1993 edition of the same tournament, as well as the 1994 Cannes Open.
Another former Ryder Cup player, Frenchman Jean van de Velde, will make his Senior Tour bow on home soil as the two-time European Tour winner is also set to tee it up next month.
A number of current Senior Tour players will return to the familiar surroundings of Le Golf National, as no fewer than six of the 54-man field won the Open de France on the same course, with two more winning the prestigious title at a different venue.
Jean-Francois Remesy became the fourth player to successfully defend the Open de France, joining Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo and Peter Oosterhius, after successive victories in 2004 and 2005.
The English pair of Malcolm Mackenzie and Phil Golding won in consecutive years (2002 and 2003), while former Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance won in 1998.
Costantino Rocca, one of Torrance’s team-mates in the 1993 and 1995 Ryder Cups, won the Open de France in 1993, and Miguel Angel Martín triumphed in 1992.
Irishman Philip Walton, another member of Europe’s victorious 1995 Ryder Cup side at Oak Hill Country Club, won the 1990 edition of the Open de France at Club de Golf de Chantilly, the same venue where José Rivero won the 1987 edition.
Former European Senior Tour Order of Merit winners Peter Fowler, Carl Mason and Paul Wesselingh are also in the field, with Mason bidding to add to his Senior Tour record of 25 titles.
