The battle for the Belas Clube de Campo Senior Open de Portugal was edging towards a dramatic climax as Jerry Bruner, Gary Wolstenholme, Doug Johnson and Gordon Brand Jnr all shared the lead as the final groups reached the turn on the final day.
Bruner was one under through eight and nine under par for the tournament after a birdie at the fifth hole but was soon joined by Wolstenholme after three birdies on the front nine were followed by birdies on the 10thand 11th, leaving him four under for the day.
Johnson also took to the top after a two under par front nine of 34 was followed by two birdies at the 10th and 11th holes.
Brand Jnr made it four at the top thanks to back to back birdies at the fourth and fifth holes before another at the ninth, which had him three under through six holes.
Ian Woosnam was also in the hunt after birdies at the fourth and sixth holes had him two under par for the day before going bogey-birdie-birdie on the ninth, 10thholes and 11th holes to leave him just one shot off the lead in tied second alongside overnight leader Mike Cunning.
