Having received a tip from compatriot Christy O’Connor Jnr before the event pointing out that his alignment was off, Irishman Des Smyth romped to victory at Royal Haagsche Golf and Country Club to win by two from American Tim Thelen and eventual John Jacobs Trophy winner Peter Fowler. This was the second time this event had been played as part of The European Senior Tour schedule, with George Ryall winning the inaugural event in 2010.
