Sandy Lyle returns to European Senior Tour action at the Fubon Senior Open hoping to rekindle his early season form in the Far East as he targets a strong end to the 2011 campaign.
The former Open and Masters Champion finished tied fifth in the Handa Cup Senior Masters in Japan before capturing his maiden Senior Tour title and first tournament victory for 19 years in the ISPS Hands Senior World Championship presented by Mission Hills China in March.
Those results saw him set the early-season pace in the Order of Merit but after being unable to maintain that form, and not playing since the Cleveland Golf/Srixon Scottish Senior Open in August, he has fallen down to 14thposition.
A good performance at Miramar Golf and Country Club in the penultimate event of the season would help the Scot finish inside the top ten on the Order of Merit for the first time on the Senior Tour – something he achieved nine times on The European Tour, including winning the Harry Vardon Trophy three times in 1979, 1980 and 1985.
