Carl Mason has begun his final round in search of a record 24th European Senior Tour title with those behind throwing birdies at him like confetti at the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters.
Adan Sowa has got off to the fastest start over the Duke’s Course at Woburn with four in a row from the first to move to within two, while two bridies from Bill Longmuir to start mean he is now Mason's closest challenger early in the final round one shot back.
Mason meanwhile parred the first in a steady start to his round as he looks to claim the victory that will see him edge past Tommy Horton and become the most prolific winner in Senior Tour history.
The crowds were gathered around the first tee in great numbers, and fun was had when Ian Woosnam got off to a false start, teeing up his ball when in fact it was the turn of playing partner Gary Wolstenholme – although this didn’t stop the popular Welshman getting the loudest cheer alongside defending champ Tony Johnstone.
Also watching on were European Tour Chief Executive George O’Grady and Managing Director of the European Senior Tour Andy Stubbs, seeing the final groups off the first tee.
