Road to Oman Rankings leader Romain Langasque shot a stunning seven under par 63 to take the clubhouse lead during Round Two of the Omega European Masters.
Playing in just his fifth European Tour event, the current European Challenge Tour Number One made the perfect start at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club, making a birdie on the 11thhole – his first of the day.
The Frenchman, who leads the way on Europe’s top developmental tour after three runner-up finishes and three further top fives this season, then made an eagle three on the par five 14thbefore another gain to make the turn in 31.
Three more birdies over the front nine, his back nine, propelled the 21 year old to the top of leaderboard, where he sits one ahead of Sweden’s Alex Noren and two in front of playing partner and 2014 Challenge Tour Rankings winner Andrew Johnston.
“This is really cool but it is where I want to be really,” said Langasque, who only turned professional in April this year.
“I made a really good start after making a good putt on number 11 before going on to make an eagle on the 14th. It was great to be in good spirits and I tried to do my best with every shot.
“I will put my clubs in the car this afternoon and am planning on going up with my family to the mountains.”
Johnston, who won twice on the Challenge Tour in 2014, was impressed by the young Frenchman’s exploits after playing with him for 36 holes.
“It was really good to play with him today,” he said. “His short game was so good and it just kept you going when you play with someone when they are like that.”
