The European Senior Tour have announced that the WINSTONgolf Senior Open has extended its agreement for a further six years with the tournament set to continue at the WINSTONgolf club, near Vorbeck in Germany.
Since its introduction in 2012, the tournament has established itself as one of the highlights of the calendar and has acquired an excellent reputation among spectators and players alike. It is therefore not surprising that the 2014 WINSTONgolf Senior Open received great praise from the players on show, who highlighted the quality of the golf course as well as its overall facilities.
Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of The European Senior Tour, said: "We are delighted that the organisers of the WINSTONgolf Senior Open have agreed to extend our arrangements until 2020 and we would like to express our gratitude for this long-term commitment. In recent years the tournament has delivered exceptional champions and the hospitality and friendly atmosphere has ensured that all players have enjoyed their time at WINSTONgolf."
On behalf of WINSTONgolf, Director Jenny Elshout, said: "We are excited to be able to announce this extended arrangement with The European Senior Tour as it was and always is our goal to promote the sport of golf in Germany. The infrastructure of WINSTONgolf contains all the ingredients for the implementation of high-class, international sports events and we are delighted to continue to utilise these facilities in such a way. Moreover, we can say that hosting this tournament has given us great enjoyment and we are certain that it will continue to bring us more in the future."
The winners of the WINSTONgolf Senior Open the last three years have been Terry Price of Australia, Gordon Brand Jnr. of Scotland and most recently, Paul Wesselingh of England. Over these years the tournament has been played on The Open course at WINSTONgolf and will continue to do so in 2015.
In future years, the tournament is likely to move onto The Links course at the same venue, a layout modelled on a traditional Scottish style links.
