Three-time European Tour winner Joakim Haeggman will make his Staysure Tour debut at The Sinclair Invitational on Friday, just two days after celebrating his 50th birthday.

Haeggman last teed it up in a European Tour-sanctioned event in the 2014 Nordea Masters but has wasted no time in starting his Staysure Tour career, returning to competitive action at the earliest opportunity after turning 50.

The 1993 Ryder Cup player, who became the first Swede to play in the biennial contest when he formed part of Bernard Gallacher’s team at The Belfry Resort, will join an exclusive list of players to compete on the European Challenge Tour, European Tour and Staysure Tour when he begins his first round of The Sinclair Invitational.

To date, there have been 11 players to taste success on all three tours, the most recent of whom was Peter Baker who joined the illustrious list following his victory at the Senior Open Hauts de France by Jean van de Velde.

After switching to the paid ranks in 1989, he made his professional debut at the Scandinavian Enterprise Open in August of that year, before picking up his first win on the Challenge Tour at the 1992 Compaq Open. His swift rise up the echelons of European golf continued in 1993 when he became the first Swedish player to earn a berth on the European Ryder Cup team.

Haegmann’s trio of European Tour victories came during an 11-year period between 1993 and 2004 as he triumphed at the 1993 Peugeot Spanish Open – when he secured a career-best 15th spot on the European Tour Order of Merit - before earning an emotional victory on home soil at the Volvo Scandinavian Masters in 1997.

His most recent European Tour victory was the 2004 Qatar Masters, before then returning to winning ways on the Challenge Tour four years later, at the AGF-Allianz Open Côtes d'Armor Bretagne.

The Sinclair Invitational gets under way at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel and Country Club from Friday August 30 – September 1. Tickets can be purchased here.
