Following Alex Levy's dramatic play-off triumph over Ross Fisher at the Porsche European Open, we review the week's highlights, from A-Z.
A – Alex Levy– The 26 year old sealed victory at the Beckenbauer course following a play-off against Ross Fisher, after the duo finished on 19 under par.
B – Beckenbauer course– Named after the legendary footballer Franz, Bernhard Langer and Kurt Rossknecht designed the course in Bad Griesbach in 2002.
C – Celebration– Fellow Frenchman Gregory Havret rushed to celebrate with Levy at the side of the 18th green after the latter’s 25 foot putt for birdie.
D – Delays– There were delays on Thursday, Friday and Saturday due to continuous fog.
E – Extra holes– The play-off between Levy and Fisher lasted for two holes.
F – Fisher– The Englishman was looking for his sixth win on the European Tour.
G – Germans– Six Germans made the cut in their home tournament – Martin Kaymer, Florian Fritsch, Marcel Schneider, Max Rottluff, Bernd Ritthammer and Marcel Siem.
H – Hardest hole– The 468-yard par four 18th was ranked the toughest hole, with 100 bogeys there made over the course of the week.
I – Inward nine– The easiest hole on the back nine on Sunday was the 566-yard par five 12th hole, which yielded 29 birdies and four eagles.
J – Jonzon– Michael Jonzon only played because of a withdrawal, but went on to finish in a tie for third.
K – Karlsson– The Swede joined Jonzon in third place in Germany after rounds of 69-63-65.
L – List– American Luke List hit the shot of the day on Friday, holing out from the 16th fairway for an eagle.
M – Making the cut– The cut mark was four under par, with 69 players progressing to the third round.
N – Nine under par– Levy shot a stunning opening round of 62, making nine birdies.
O – Outward nine– The hardest hole on the front nine over the course of the week was the 225-yard par three seventh hole, with 102 bogeys being made there.
P – Paratore– Italian Renato Paratore continues to impress, with the 19 year old shooting an opening round 65 that included an eagle and three birdies on his back nine.
Q – Qualification matters– Jonzon significantly boosted his Race to Dubai ranking and now finds himself 29 places off 110th.
R – Ryder Cup– Martin Kaymer, Thomas Pieters, Padraig Harrington and Paul Lawrie were all in action in Germany before heading out to The Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National.
S – Short game– Levy’s short game was superb throughout the week, needing just 23 putts during his opening round.
T – Third time– Victory was Levy’s third on the European Tour.
U – Up and down– Bernd Wiesberger made one of the up and downs of the week on Saturday at the tenth hole to make eagle on his way to a round of 68.
V – Variety– Levy is the second man to have won 72, 54 and 36 hole events on the European Tour. Paul Lawrie was the first.
W – Wiesberger– The Austrian’s good form continues, following his second place at the KLM Open with fifth place at the Beckenbauer course.
X – marks the spot– This was the view players would have had looking down the first tee on the weather-delayed Saturday morning.
Y – Youngest– Levy is the youngest Frenchman to win three European Tour titles.
Z – Zero bogeys– On his way to the lowest 36 hole total of the season, Levy made 17 birdies and zero bogeys.
