THE COURSE
Opened in September 1991. Course designers - Graham Marsh and Ross Watson
The scrub surrounding the course can provide many unplayable lies with the only option being a return to the tee or where the previous shot was played from. Will be open to some low scoring without much penalty in the rough. However, there are some risk-and-reward holes that are very interesting and could be very costly with the wrong decision. The greens will be very much part of the challenge and there are some very strong par 3's.
The course is only slightly undulating, lined with heavy scrub and bush. There are a number of hazards , mostly in play on holes 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18.
No real changes although previous events here have been played as a composite of the Lakes and Ellenbrook courses whereas this year all 18 holes of the Lakes are being used so players will in the main be unfamiliar with the front nine holes.
The course is home to many kangaroos which are very evident on the prepared areas of the course throughout the day.
WEATHER
It has been the coolest December on record here with average temperatures only around 20 degrees. Forecast for the tournament is expected to be in the region of mid 30's for the week with clear skies, and the sea breeze, "The Fremantle Doctor", prevailing in the afternoons.
