·         Robert Karlsson became the most prolific Swedish winner in European Tour history with his seventh victory, after the claiming The Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship, moving ahead of Anders Forsbrand, who won six times.

 

·         Should a Swede win this year, it would be the third year in succession that a player from that country has won the event, following Niclas Fasth in 2005 and Karlsson in 2006. The only previous occasion on The European Tour that this feat has occurred was at the Smurfit Kappa European Open. Per-Ulrik Johansson won in 1996 and 1997, with Mathias Grönberg in 1998 claiming victory.

 

·         Two-time winner Bernhard Langer is the only player to win this Championship in two different countries. His first success came in 1983 in St Mellion, England and won 12 years later in 1995 at Gut Kaden, Germany, the first time this course had staged the event. As a result of his 1995 triumph, he became the only player to win the same European Tour event in two different countries.
