• Thaworn Wiratchant, the winner in 2005 became the first player to win a European Tour event, shooting 63 in three of his four rounds. He recorded scores  of 63-63-66-63 gave him a 72 hole aggregate of 255 (-25). His total would have been the lowest four round mark  in European Tour history, but for preferred lies in rounds three and four.

• The 2007 champion, Mikko Ilonen recorded his first European Tour victory in Indonesia 12 months ago and became the first Finnish golfer to win on The European Tour International Schedule. His triumph made Finland the 34th and latest different country to win.

• Ilonen went onto further glory in 2007 by winning the Scandinavian Masters in Sweden. The Finn became the first player since Jeev Milkha Singh (2006 Volvo China Open and 2006 Volvo Masters) to win their two titles in the same season.

• The three previous tournaments have all produced first-time European Tour winners – Wiratchant (2005), Simon Dyson (2006) and Ilonen (2007).
