• Since 1955 the Championship has seen 40 different winners, from 12 different countries.
• Defending champion, Anders Hansen joined a distinguished group 12 months ago by becoming the eighth player to win the Championship on more than one occasion. He follows: Peter Alliss, Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Tony Jacklin, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie and Ian Woosnam.
• Anders Hansen claimed his first European Tour title at Wentworth Club in 2002. As a result of his second triumph in 2007 he became the latest player to win the same event for their first two European Tour victories. He is the ninth golfer in European Tour history to achieve this feat.
• The Championship has a rich history of Major Championship winners – eight in all. They are: Seve Ballesteros, Angel Cabrera, Nick Faldo, Tony Jacklin, Bernhard Langer, José Maria Olazábal, Arnold Palmer and Ian Woosnam.
• Paul Broadhurst will achieve his own European Tour landmark at the BMW PGA Championship – his 500th professional appearance. His debut in the paid ranks came in the 1988 Jersey Open, where he tied 24th. He becomes the 16th player to join the 500 Club.
• The quality of the 150-strong field is highlighted with seven Major Champions, five European Tour Order of Merit winners and 101 European Tour tournament winners featuring.
