Duo set for closing shootout

There was nothing to separate joint leaders Henrik Stenson and George Coetzee at the Serengeti Golf & Wildlife Estate as the pair headed for the final holes of the SA Open Championship.

Stenson lost his three shot advantage over his playing partner at the turn after finding the water on the ninth and the pair remained deadlocked through 14.

The Swede had not picked up a birdie between the tenth and 14th all week but he soon remedied that when it mattered by making a gain at the first chance on the back nine to edge ahead of the South African once again.

However, Coetzee, aiming for his maiden win on The European Tour, struck straight back and he showcased his powers of recovery on the 13th to save par.

Neither player was then about to capitalise on their birdie opportunities at the next.

Thomas Aiken and Martin Kaymer were hoping to gatecrash the last pairing’s party as both produced six birdies to move two strokes off the pace.

Meanwhile, Tommy Fleetwood closed in on a place in The 2013 European Tour International Schedule.

That honour is given to the top 119 on The Race To Dubai rankings and Fleetwood, needing a top 27 finish to guarantee his card for next term, positioned himself into a tie for sixth.

Earlier, reigning champion Hennie Otto broke Coetzee's course record with a 10 under par 62.
