Open Champion Ernie Els makes his first appearance on The 2003 European Tour International Schedule as he headlines the cast for the Caltex Masters, presented by Carlsberg, Singapore 2003.
Els won the Asprey Golfer of the Year Award for 2002 after winning six titles worldwide including the Heineken Classic and Dubai Desert Classic on The European Tour International Schedule, in addition to the 131st Open Golf Championship at Muirfield.
The South African continued his winning ways in 2003 by capturing the Mercedes Championships, the opening event of the year on the US PGA Tour, in record breaking fashion in Hawaii and the Sony Open last weekend to consolidate his ranking as World Number Two.
Fredrik Jacobson, currently fourth in the Volvo Order of Merit, will be looking for back-to-back victories in the region following his victory in the Omega Hong Kong Open in December when he ended a run of six second place finishes, including twice missing out in play-offs, to claim his first European Tour title.
Arjun Atwal will be defending the title after making history 12 months ago when he became the first Indian player to win on The European Tour International Schedule.
Atwal, who graduated from the European Tour Qualifying School to become only the second Indian golfer to earn Membership of The European Tour, won the title by five strokes with a 14 under par total of 274.
Other winners from the 2002 season include Anders Hansen (Volvo PGA Championship) and Stephen Leaney (Linde German Masters).
